Inspired by Little Benny James Funk and Rare Essence Dante King and Mike Gross crea
Inspired by Little Benny James Funk and Rare Essence Dante King and Mike Gross create Obsession to compete in the 1986 Calvert High School talent show. Within a year their inspirations manifested into Obsession performing on shows with their Go-Go legends like the great Chuck Brown & the Soul Searchers, EU JYB and Rare Essence. Obsession continued to perform in the 90s with new members from Palmer Park MD (D and Bread). 2007 the band returned adding new members & adjusting their style of play that allowed the band to jump right back in the thick of it preforming with all of the greats until 2012. After a 7 year layoff Obsession returned with a new EP and their first show back they performed at Fort Dupont Park in front of 10 Thousand opening for Rare Essence. Obsession won 1stMarch Mayhem battle of the bands this year and have a new single “Love Unconditional”.
The Beginning
Starting out, as High School kids from Calvert County, Forestville, MD and DC the dream was to make it big on the Go-Go scene.
Looking to the Future
Over the years the goals have changed along with newer and younger band members. The musical expectations are still high. Be on the look out for New Albums, EPs and Mix-PA recording
